BTI’s System is currently expanding its location in Wuhan, PRC
and has exciting opportunities for Technical Support. Reporting
to Manager, Technical Support, you will be responsible for
ensuring excellence in the delivery of technical support from BTI
’s in-region technical assistance center (TAC) located in Wuhan
China.
Responsibilities include:
Provide technical support for customers and assist customers
with problem resolution, network upgrades, troubleshooting and
installations covering BTI’s entire product line of optical,
layer 2, and network management products.
Work as a member of the Wuhan technical support team and
provide strong expertise in DWDM/CWDM optical networking
technology
Develop test plans, conduct lab work and MOP’s (Method of
Procedure) to assist customers with BTI equipment configuration
and installations and lab based problem replications
Deliver effective and professional customer support by phone,
email and participate in BTI’s weekend and after-hourspager
support program.
Significant interaction with BTI resources and customer
personnel for excellence of customer deployments particularly
associated with introduction of BTI’s expanding portfolio
offerings.
Provide telephone support to customers before, during and
after installation and manage time-critical escalations to
overcome technological challenges.
Position requires 10-20% travel both domestic and
international travel.
10-20% travel required, international travel Visa preferred
The successful candidates will possess:
Core/Behavioural Competencies:
• Excellent customer-facing rapport;
• Strong organizational and presentation skills;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
and Chinese;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while at the same
time maintaining a strong collaboration model with worldwide
technical support and engineering resources;
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
• Ability to communicate with various functional levels;
• Ability to travel 10-20% of the time (domestic and
international) – international travel Visa is preferred.
Technical Competencies:
A college degree in computer science, telecommunications or
equivalent;
A minimum 1 years progressive experience (including co-op
terms) in a technical support role;
Experience with network installation projects;
Experience in troubleshooting optical networking products;
Experience with the following technologies:
Optical networking equipment
CWDM/DWDM
Optical amplifiers, muxponders, transponders
OTDR measurement devices, power meters and optical
troubleshooting
Layer 2 Ethernet and packet based technologies
Linux OS
SNMP and Network Management Technologies
