英语中怎么表达“更喜欢……”？

比较常见的就是："prefer"和"like better"。分别举几个例子说明一下它们的用法。

1. prefer:

例：

Which bread do you prefer, brown or white?（你喜欢白面包还是黑面包？）

"Which restaurant shall we goto?" "I really don't mind. Whichever one you prefer."（-你想去哪家餐厅吃饭？ -无所谓都行，你想去哪家就去哪家。）

She doesn't like romantic fiction -- shemuch prefers detective stories.（她不喜欢言情小说，相比言情小说，她更喜欢侦探故事。）

Brad Pitt? Oh no, I much prefer RussellCrowe!（你说布拉德·皮特？不是不是，我更喜欢罗素·克洛！）

I'm beginning to like Japanese food. Icertainly prefer rice to potatoes.（我开始喜欢上日式料理了，比起马铃薯我更喜欢吃米饭啊！）

Dave wants to go to New York again, but I'dprefer somewhere more exotic.（戴夫想再去一次纽约，但我更想去外国。）

2. like better: to like one personor thing more than another one

备注："likebetter"常用于口语中。

例：

Which do you like better, the red tie orthe green one?（两条领带，红色的和蓝色的，你更喜欢哪条？）

I like our new teacher much better than theone we had before.（跟以前那个老师比起来，这个新来的老师好多了，我更喜欢他。）

There was nothing she liked better thanbeing in the limelight in front of the press and TV cameras.（她Z喜欢成为公众焦点。）

再介绍两个次常用的："havea preference"和"favour"。

1. have a preference: to prefersomething - use this especially when you are discussing which one of severalthings should be chosen

例：

We could eat Chinese, Indian, or Italian.Do you have any preference?（吃中国菜、印度菜、意大利菜都可以。你喜欢吃哪个？）

have a preference for

The new leader has a preference for peoplewho come from the same area of the country as he does.（这个新领导对同乡比较有好感。）

have no strong/particular preference (=you don't prefer any of them more than the others)

I really have no particular preference --you choose.（我无所谓，我没有特别偏好哪一个。你决定就好！）

express a preference (=say that you prefer one rather than others)

When I asked her about where she wanted themeeting to be held she didn't express any particular preference.（我问她想在哪里开会，她说对会址没有特别的偏好，都行。）

2. favour/favor: if a person orgroup in a position of authority or influence favours something such as a plan,idea, or system, they think it is better than the others

例：

In the 1930s the Bauhaus school tended tofavour a technological approach to art.（20世纪30年代，魏玛包豪斯大学更重视理科，不那么重视艺术学科。）（备注：魏玛包豪斯大学是德国一所著名的艺术类院校。）

还有一种口语中常用的说法，可以用来表示“更喜欢某事物”，请看：

give mesomebody/something any day!: used when you want tosay that you strongly prefer one type of thing

例：

I can't stand English men -- they're soboring. Give me an Italian any day!（我受不了英国人，他们真是太无趣了！快给我找个意大利人来吧！）

Forget all your salad and beans and organicfood -- give me a thick juicy steak any day!（别吃沙拉豆子还有那些有机食品了！快给我来一块厚实多汁的牛排吧！）
